Full moon on Sunday, March 12th.
Our current Full Moon features the sun in Pisces and the moon in Virgo, echoing the September 16th eclipse in 2016, which had the opposite sun/moon configuration. That eclipse shadow revealed a glimpse of our own shadows. This time around, if we have learned the lessons, we can ascend a level.
As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces contains the wisdom of an entire cycle of experience. Lessons and experiences of the rest of the zodiac culminate in Pisces. “Be all in,” Pisces whispers, knowing that we are already all in, only ever dreaming that we were separate.
Strong Pisces aspects in a natal chart bestow a direct emotional connection with others: the sign of the fish just naturally picks up every tremor and splash in the pool. This can be a deeply sensitive and even compassionate sign, but psychic glimpses don’t automatically lead to spiritual wisdom. This sign is equally capable of being deluded by the ethereal world of dreams and fantasy, and at its lowest moments, will chase drunken or drug-addled rainbows.
Virgo balances the fluid nature of Pisces, and provides a structure to contain the cosmic ocean. She is a faithful and meticulous scientist probing the mystery and reducing her findings to useful bites of information. Great skill and strength of character are developed in the dedicated pursuit of factual rules and equations. Rather than just pandering to social power, the scientist must answer to a higher order of reality. Virgo the virgin is whole unto herself, serving a higher power. She is a servant, yes, but a slave, never. In fact, she often finds herself in that thankless position of pointing out just who and what has fallen short. If you ever are on the receiving end of useful criticism from a trusted guide, do yourself the favor and overcome internal hubris and listen humbly and gratefully.
I realize that humility comes more naturally to some than others. Out of all the signs, Pisces and Virgo embody the most natural humility. They both specialize in non-aggrandizement in order to prove your inherent and indisputable value. While Pisces argues directly that you are inseparable from the rest of the cosmos, the drop and the ocean, Virgo attempts to perfect you precisely because she recognizes your potential -- if you would just drop the ego-driven dog-and-pony show. Humility is thus the cornerstone to attaining wisdom, and in successfully holding positions of power.
Humility is not about fawning and pandering to social trinkets like high office or fat salaries. Instead, humility means accurately assessing one’s own strengths and weaknesses, and understanding one’s real value. A strong sense of one’s true worth results in solid decision-making skills, which makes a better leader than someone crippled by secret self-doubt. If a person’s psyche contains too vast a gap between their inflated sense of self and the more modest reality, stability is impossible. An unstable person might attack the messenger rather than hear the message. Or worse.
This Full Moon helps attain our true place through a humble acceptance of our whole selves. Beware of loss of contact with reality. Overcoming personal pride and training your emotional energies is the responsibility of fulfilling the station of privilege. It is time for us to take this time to accept the gifts of true humility bestowed during this Full Moon.
